The therapist who is right for you is someone with whom you feel comfortable, someone who will support you in your goals, and someone who will empower you towards your desired changes. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist, I serve clients in Yardley, PA and the surrounding region to achieve this type of relationship. During therapeutic in-person or telehealth sessions, we will work collaboratively to overcome obstacles so that you can achieve your goals, whatever they may be! If you are looking for a therapist in Yardley, PA, I encourage you to reach out today and have a free consultation call with me to discuss how you could benefit from therapy.
Although online therapy services offer a great deal of convenience, they are not ideal for everyone. The preference for in-person sessions is both natural and beneficial. In this environment, we have a full and clear perspective of one another’s verbal and nonverbal communication. There's little room for glitches and disconnects!
My physical office provides a distraction-free, private space where clients can focus on themselves and their goals and take a moment from the frenetic day-to-day. Many clients appreciate the opportunity to prepare their minds on the way to their session, intentionally letting go of the other demands on their time and energy. This facilitates a mental and emotional shift that is not so easy to achieve with the click of a button in one’s own home.
My practice is located in Yardley, PA, which is easily accessible from Newtown, Washington Crossing, Trenton, Ewing, Levittown, Northeast Philadelphia, and other points along Rt 295 or Rt 1. As a bilingual Clinical Social Worker licensed in Pennsylvania and New York, I have over 25 years of experience serving a diverse range of clients, including teens, young adults, adults in transition, and Deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals.
I specialize in the transitional phases of life for which many people are lacking appropriate resources and support. Being in transition could look something like one of the following scenarios:
Teens, young adults, and adults of all ages can have a difficult time navigating change. Whether that change is desired, involuntary, or simply uncomfortable, it is often more manageable with the support of a skilled professional. In therapy, I work collaboratively with clients to help them identify their feelings and challenges, set goals, explore their thoughts and feelings, and move towards their desired outcomes.
My job is to empower individuals towards these outcomes with evidence-based psychotherapy. My client-centered and goal-oriented approach is rooted in cognitive-behavioral and Gestalt therapy techniques. I focus on strengths, genuine and open communication, and positive support.
Backed by over thirty years of ASL fluency, I specialize in providing therapy to Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. Therapy techniques uniquely integrated with ASL communication create a supportive environment for people that are Deaf and hard-of-hearing. My extensive experience in this area of practice has allowed me to walk with clients through the many co-occurring challenges that impact their relationship with themselves and others. With all clients, we can explore intellectual and physical disabilities, mental health and mood disorders, and substance use disorders and recovery.
As a hearing person who is fluent in ASL, I regularly facilitate communication between family members and significant others. With my assistance, the individuals involved are often able to grow their relationships, develop a deeper understanding of the other’s needs and concerns, and resolve conflict. The tools learned in therapy can be used in day to day applications, establishing long-term stability and healthier, more fulfilling communication.
For Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in and around Yardley, PA, an understanding and competent therapist can be profoundly beneficial. With access to the same therapeutic tools that hearing people have in abundance, people with hearing loss can self-advocate in all areas of their lives. This leads to improved opportunities, relationships, and professional success.
If you are considering therapy as a resource to explore and resolve issues you are facing in your life, it is important to understand that you will be entering into a relationship with your therapist. Just like all relationships, the one you have with your therapist must be positive and comfortable. Even though this is not a friendship, there must be compatibility so that communication happens easily.
If you have worked with therapists in the past, whether in Yardley, other areas of Bucks County, or elsewhere, you may already have an opinion about the benefits of therapy. There are two key indicators for a positive association with therapy:
My desire as a therapist is to form collaborative relationships in which both of these occur. I offer each client a supportive, positive setting where I listen intently in order to help clients assess their challenges and implement a workable plan. Clients who feel comfortable speaking openly with me about their innermost thoughts, feelings, fears, and concerns will be able to fully explore these issues while in pursuit of solutions and desired outcomes. Psychotherapy services are fully confidential within the legal limitations under Pennsylvania law.
If you are seeking in-person therapy in Yardley, PA or Bucks County and within reasonable travel distance to my practice, I welcome the opportunity to support you in achieving your emotional health goals and satisfying life experiences. Texting is fine as well. I am an out-of-network provider, which means you may be eligible for insurance reimbursement.
