The "right" therapist is someone with whom you feel comfortable, who will support you in your goals and empower you as you move towards them. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and psychotherapist, I serve clients in Yardley, PA and surrounding areas. During in-person or telehealth sessions, we will work collaboratively to overcome obstacles so that you can achieve your goals, whatever they may be! If you are looking for a therapist in Yardley, PA, please reach out today for a free consultation to discuss how we can work together.
Although online therapy services offer a great deal of convenience, they are not ideal for everyone. The preference for in-person sessions is both natural and beneficial. In this environment, we have a full and clear perspective of one another’s verbal and nonverbal communication. There's no chance of glitches and disconnects!
My physical office provides a quiet, private space where clients can focus on themselves, their personal aspirations, and take a break from the frenetic day-to-day. Many clients appreciate the opportunity to prepare their minds on the way to their session, intentionally letting go of other demands on their time and energy. This facilitates a mental and emotional shift that is not so easy to achieve with the click of a button in one’s own home. However, both in-person and telehealth sessions are available! Sometimes they are a good-enough backup plan!
My practice is located in Yardley, PA, easily accessible from Newtown, Washington Crossing, Trenton, Ewing, Levittown, Northeast Philadelphia, and other points along Route 295 or Route 1. As a bilingual clinical social worker licensed in Pennsylvania and New York, I have over 25 years of experience serving a diverse range of clients, including teens, young adults, adults in transition, and Deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals.
I specialize in the transitional phases of life during which many people lack appropriate resources and support. Being "in transition" could look like one of the following scenarios:
Teens and adults of all ages can have a difficult time navigating change. Whether that change is desired, involuntary, or simply uncomfortable, it is usually more manageable with the support of a skilled professional. In therapy, I work collaboratively with clients to help them identify their feelings and challenges, set goals, explore their thoughts and feelings, move towards their desired outcomes -- and then achieve them!
My job is to empower individuals as they move towards these outcomes with evidence-based psychotherapy. My client-centered and goal-oriented approach is rooted in cognitive-behavioral and Gestalt therapy techniques. I am excited and proud to come from a strengths-based perspective, to engage in genuine and open communication, and to provide productive feedback and support.
Backed by over thirty years of ASL fluency, I specialize in providing therapy to Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. Therapy techniques uniquely integrated with ASL communication create a supportive environment for people that are Deaf and hard-of-hearing. My extensive experience in this area of practice has allowed me to walk with clients through the many co-occurring challenges that impact their relationships with themselves and others. People with physical, intellectual and developmental challenges, mental health disorders, substance use disorders and those without any of the above can all benefit from support on the road to improved wellness and recovery.
As a hearing person fluent in ASL, I can help facilitate communication between family members and significant others. Individuals can grow their relationships, develop a deeper understanding of the other’s needs, and better resolve conflict. Tools learned in therapy can be applied in real life, establishing long-term stability and healthier, more fulfilling experiences.
For Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in and around Yardley, PA, an understanding and competent therapist can be profoundly beneficial. With access to the same therapeutic tools as their hearing peers, people with hearing loss can better succeed in all areas of their lives. This results in improved self-esteem, professional success, and overall well-being.
If you are considering therapy to explore and resolve current issues of concern, understand that you will be entering into a relationship with your therapist. Just like all relationships, ours must be positive and comfortable. There must be compatibility so that communication flows openly and easily.
If you have worked with therapists in the past, whether in Yardley, other areas of Bucks County, or elsewhere, you may already have an opinion about the benefits of therapy. There are two key indicators for a positive association with therapy:
As a therapist, my passion is forming collaborative relationships so that both of these occur. I offer each client a supportive, positive setting where I listen intently in order to help assess challenges and implement a workable plan. Clients who feel comfortable speaking openly with me about their innermost thoughts, feelings, fears, and concerns will be able to fully explore these issues while in pursuit of solutions and desired outcomes. Psychotherapy services are fully confidential within the legal limitations under Pennsylvania law. If you are seeking in-person therapy in Yardley, PA, Bucks County or within reasonable travel distance to my office, I welcome the opportunity to support you. Texting is fine as well. I am an out-of-network provider, which means you may be eligible for insurance reimbursement.
I am a "boutique practice" eager to provide excellent service. Please call or text
